Biography

He studied painting with Leonid Potapov, played the violin and took part in exhibitions.
1941 received a second prize (watercolors) at the All-Union competition of illustrations of Lermontov in Moscow, but did not receive a prize - the war began.
In 1943, after graduating from middle school, he entered the Polytechnic Institute, the Faculty of Architecture.
In 1948, after graduating the Polytehchic Institute, he continued stydies and entered the Institute of Arts to do PHD. He studied with Bazhbyuk Melikov. Designed the exhibitions of museums.
In 1975 he worked on the movie "Pirosmani" and played a main role.
He never had a studio where he could work and never also had a personal exhibition.
The first exhibition of Avto was organized only after his death (in 1977). Any attempts to organize an exhibition would end with a phone call from the KGB.
